Neighborhood Notes

Many thanks to all of you who responded to our survey and told us the best days/times for you to come and play at Isobel's Clubhouse.

Isobel's Clubhouse is Central Portland's family room. It's a not-for-profit place for families to gather and play, and we hope to see you there.

Based on your input, here's the schedule for September:

M* 3:30 - 5:00 Stories and Open Play

T* 9:30 - 11:30 Arts and Crafts

W* 3:30 - 5:00 Messy Projects

Th* 9:30 - 11:30 Arts and Crafts

F* 9:30 - 11:30 Stories and Open Play

* You'll still want to check the weekly schedule that we post on Neighborhood Notes. If there's some field trip or adventure that's too good to pass up... well, then we won't pass it up :)

Stories and Open Play: We have lots of donated books and art supplies. Depending on what mood you're in that day, we might paint, draw, make paper crafts, work with play dough, read stories, dress up in costumes or sing songs. You're welcome to bring books to share and fun ideas.

Arts and Crafts: We'll have a specific project geared up and ready to go. It might be making wind socks, book marks, sock puppets, flags, or even learning to crochet. We'll blog the event so you know what materials to bring.

Messy Projects: On Wednesdays we'll try to do something a little messy, something that a kid who lives in an apartment or condo might not typically do indoors. This could be finger painting, science projects with baking soda, vinegar and balloons, paper mache or what have you. We'll blog the event so you know what materials to bring.

Third Thursday: Every Third Thursday we'll play for about an hour, and then clean and organize for about an hour. Thanks in advance for your help in keeping the Clubhouse tidy, sanitary and well organized.

Third Friday: Every Third Friday we'll have a toy swap. Reduce, reuse, recycle. You can swap your own toys and the Clubhouse will swap toys as well.
