Asa Apartments Open in November

by shooter

No doubt you've notice that the construction fences have come down around the Asa Apartment building, and the showroom is being built out. The building will open to residents in November.

It will have 231 apartments and lofts, nine penthouses, and 20,000 square feet of retail space. A quick look at rental rates shows that, on a square foot basis, it's not much less costly than it's neighbor, The Wyatt. Since the units in the Asa are smaller, the monthly rates will be less. Units at the Asa start at $1150 for 520 sq ft ($2.20/sq ft) while at The Wyatt, 825 sq ft units start at $1911 (about $2.31/sq ft).

I'm still on the fence about the architecture of the building, though I have heard from many who don't like it. The mixed colors of brick and corrugated metal are the specific features I've heard people criticize. On the other hand, architectural diversity is good for the neighborhood, even if you don't like a specific building.

Read what the Daily Journal of Commerce has to say about the Asa.

What do you think about the project?

I have yet to hear of anyone who actually LIKES the "architecture" of this building.

Looks like a 1950's elementary school. In Russia.

I LOVE the design of this building! Of all the buildings in the pearl, I would choose this gorgeous apartment building to live!
