Plate and Pitchfork

by pearlgirl
If you are looking for a new and fabulous dining experience, check out Plate and Pitchfork farm dinners .

Your evening begins with a wine tasting reception with the guest winemaker- just a taste because soon you'll head out on your farm tour. Led by the host farmer, you'll tour the fields and learn about the farm's history, operations and products. Your tour concludes in the dining area, a picturesque spot in the field where tables dressed in white linen and candlelight offer a view of the al fresco kitchen where two local chefs have prepared a delectable meal with produce plucked from the fields you just toured. A five-course meal is interrupted only by the sounds of neighboring cows and crickets and brief presentations by our agricultural and culinary participants who provide insight into the evening's meal, answer your questions and even share recipes.

Dinners begin in the field promptly at 6 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, at 5pm on Sundays and conclude at a

Volunteers have been working hard over a year to bring the garden to life and now they need donations to make their vision tangible.

For more information, please visit the ZCC Community Garden website .

Talking Trash

by pearlgirl
Don't forget that the trashiest event in The Pearl is on May 21st! Registration begins at 8:30am at Peet's Coffee in The Brewery Blocks. Volunteers will enjoy breakfast and coffee provided by sponsors and then receive all of the necessary implements to clean the streets of the neighborhood. We clean from Burnside to Raleigh and it usually takes two hours to make the Pearl sparkle. Then, the volunteers are treated to an awards luncheon at Rogue Ales .

Current sponsors include Umpqua Bank , Rogue Ales , Fulfillment Corporation of America , Legacy Hospital , Peet's Coffee , and Fidelity National Title . If your business would like to be a sponsor (you can make a donation or provide a prize for the awards luncheon), please contact Jon DuClos at Jond@windermere.com.

Don't forget to rally your neighbors and attend this event as a team. Pride of the Pearl Awards are given to the business and HOA that have the most volunteers. The teams to beat fro

Meet Max! Pearl Pet of the Week

by pearlgirl

max_040805_013
Originally uploaded by pearlgirl . Hi, my name is Max and I have lived in the Pearl for the last 2 1/2 of my 14 years. My walks are mostly around the neighborhood since my hips bother me, but in my day I was quite a guy. Dog Mountain, Table Mountain, and all 26 miles of the Wildwood Trail were a piece of cake.
I have made many new friends since I moved here and love all the attention I get as I am making my rounds. I don't even mind when kids ask me if I am a holstien cow or a dalmation. Don't you just love these pictures of me? My friend Tommy's dad took them. He is the best photographer around. His name is Bruce Forster and his studio is in the Pearl.

The Buzz

by pearlgirl
Lovejoy Square (14th & Lovejoy) is buzzing with activity. Current residents include On Deck Sportsbar , Cheeky Boutique , Dog Day Afternoon and now... Pearl Nails . Still under construction is The Footbar which touts "stress relief for urban feet".

A new sign has gone up in the past couple of weeks...and I just found out that Title 9 fitness apparel for women will be moving into the corner space of Lovejoy Square (facing The Daily Cafe). Title 9 is a small chain with stores in Berkeley and Palo Alto, CA; Boulder & Denver, CO; Seattle and Bellevue, WA and now in Portland.

Hoyt Street Yards will soon be home to martini bar Olive or Twist , US Bank , and Fenouil (French cuisine on Jamison Square). Wells Fargo Bank will relocate from its current space in RiverTec to the space now occupied by Hoyt Street Realty . Hoyt Street Realty will relocate to The ground level of the Lexis Condominiums (which, by the way, will go on sale soon...). Read More...
