First Thursday goes to the dogs

by pearlgirl
First Thursday is no longer for those with two feet. If your four-footed friend would like to come along and join the fun, here are events you can both enjoy:

Dog Day Afternoon hosts its very first "First Thursday" event on April 7. Jim Gion of Artdog will be sculpting LIVE and Faye Pietrokowsky will be giving a lecture on "Separation Anxiety". The seminar begins at 6pm. Admission is $20, 50% of the proceeds go to the Tsunami Pet Relief Fund. Be sure and drop off your dog for Canine Enrichment Night while you enjoy First Thursday. www.pearldogs.com

And remember that your pet is always welcome at the Janice Griffin Gallery at 1301 NW 12th Avenue.www.janicegriffingallery.com

Spring Pulse

by pearlgirl
A Citrusy-fresh issue of The Pearl Pulse should be in your mailbox. If not, look for it at local businesses.

Thanks to the Pearl District Business Association for this fine publication!

Meet Jazzz! Pearl Pet of the Week

by pearlgirl

Jazzz four&half mos
Originally uploaded by pearlgirl .
Jazzz is a 4 month old RatTerrier and she is the joy of our lives. Normally she would prefer a little privacy during her pee sessions, but we are very proud of her litter box skills! (Yes, I am too spoiled to take her outdoors in the rain.) So I included a picture of her posing in all her glory. Then there is a cute one of her on the bed. You can see her little
rhinestone collar. She is so cute! We call her our Grandpuppy because we can't convince any of our 5 kids to reproduce!

Urban Mexican Cuisine

by pearlgirl
That's right! Urban Mexican Cuisine. This ain't your Mama's Mexican. Try the Langostino Coctel (fresh crayfish tossed with a cocktail sauce of tomatoes, cilantro and fresh citrus juices), Mole Poblano of the day (A classical mole from Puebla, made with over 20 ingredients including dried Mexican chiles, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, spices and Mexican chocolate.), or tacos de pescado (3 grilled fish tacos garnished with shredded cabbage and served with beans & rice).

Open for dinner Tuesday-Saturday, 5-10pm
Open for brunch Saturday and Sunday 9:30-2:30
(Happy Hour 4-6pm is in the works...)

Moving On...

by pearlgirl
Two really great Pearl businesses will be relocating in downtown. It's sad for us to lose them, but they have outgrown their current digs.

Intelligent Design Collection at 733 NW Everett (on the Park Blocks) is relocating to 537 SW 12th in spring 2005. Their new space will be 4000 square feet, which means a lot more room for their fabulous furniture selection. Best of all, it is being designed by skylab design (www.skylabdesign), the creative folks behind The Jupiter Hotel and Doug Fir Lounge (among other notable projects!). Good luck to Bill and his design staff!

Aequis Spa in the Gadsby Building at 1306 NW Hoyt is relocating into The Telegram Building at 11th and SW Washington. They expect to be open the first week of June...maybe earlier. Until then, enjoy their services at the present location. Good luck Aequis!

I'll keep you posted as firm opening dates for both businesses come available.

Drool over the Foul

by pearlgirl
For those of you who like middle eastern cuisine, we have been graced with a fantastic new restaurant called Madena of the Pearl . It's located in the space formerly occupied by Bibo Juice at 432 NW 11th Ave. Madena is open 11-9 every day of the week. You can sit down and enjoy your meal or grab it to go. Either way, it's delicious.

The prices are very reasonable too. Nothing on the menu is over $7 for lunch or $11.50 for dinner.
