Healthy Bottom Line | Are you at risk for a stroke?

by pearlgirl
Stroke is the nation's third leading cause of death. Suffering a stroke can have a devastating impact, not only on the survivor, but also on everyone who cares about them. Alexander Nicoloff, M.D., from Legacy Columbia Vascular and Endovascular Specialists says it’s important to know the symptoms of a stroke to potentially save a loved one or yourself. Millions of brain cells die each minute a stroke is untreated.

Stroke Symptoms
• Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
• Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
• Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
• Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
• Sudden, severe headache with no know cause

Dr. Nicoloff will be leading a class Tuesday, April 29, from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital called “Are You at Risk from Clogged Arteries”. He and registered dietitian Laura Joyce will discuss what puts you at risk, nutrition, prevention, and new minimally invasive treatment procedures. The class is free and open to the public. Please call 503-335-3500 to register.
