The magic of Marius...
by pearlgirl
The smell of Nuvrei is intoxicating -- AND SURPISING. For many folks, walking down 10th becomes a perplexing experience as they walk past The Elizabeth and suddenly... sniff, sniff...
what's that smell?
Is it almonds?
good god. It's divine.
You see the head spin. They look all around trying to find the origin of this heavenly scent. Sometimes they shrug and move on, but sometimes desperation compels them to look up and then... down.
Nuvrei.
If you haven't visited Nuvrei, you are missing out. There are many outlets that carry their delicious pastries and cookies, but to get the full scope of what they do, a visit to the bakery is in order. They have french press coffee and trays of scones, cookies, cinnamon rolls, brioche and croissants -- fresh from from the oven -- covering the available counter space.
Marius Pop is the owner. He's a very nice guy who is seriously committed to his craft. He'll undoubtedly be there when you visit. He was there this morning when Shooter and I stopped in for breakfast. Cinnamon roll for him and chocolate chip scone for me.
Passing on the chocolate almond croissants was a struggle, but to quote Scarlett O'Hara, "tomorrow is another day."
