Silent Night

by pearlgirl
For those of you further south, the North Pearl suffered a major blackout on Christmas evening. About 6pm, the emergency generators kicked on as all of our lights went off. I looked at neighboring buildings and saw that Marshall Wells, Streetcar, Bridgeport, Pinnacle and Park Place were also dark. No streetlights or traffic signals either. What an eerie sight.

We took a cab to a movie theater (our garage door wouldn't work), but while we were there, saw friends from a neighboring building. Like us, they altered their plans, but still had a great Christmas. Today, I ran into friends on the street and they said that they ended up lighting candles and playing cards with visiting family. They had a grand time!

Who knew that a blackout could be so fun?
