Please help if you can
by pearlgirl
Neighbors,
For the past several years, our neighbors at AzTech Signs have generously donated to the annual PDNA Party and never asked for anything in return. Now one of their team could use our help.
A long-time employee of AzTech, Peter Green, was in a serious auto accident June 30 that left him in a coma with severe injuries (see note from AzTech owner, Kevin Conley, below). Fortunately, Peter is now conscious and walking a little, but his recovery is going to be a long one and, of course, his medical bills costly.
AzTech has been a good neighbor to the Pearl District, and this is our opportunity to give something in return. If you would like to contribute to help pay for his medical bills, please go to this website: www.volksrods.com and click "make a donation." Thanks. Jackie Mathys

Dear Friends,
Last Thursday, June 30, AzTech Signs Production Manager, Peter Green turned
29 years old. On
his way home from work that day he was in a head on collision with a Fed Ex
truck on West Burnside. Pete was driving a 1965 VW bug.
Pete is now in the intensive care trauma unit at Emanuel Hospital with
severe head injuries.
His condition is critical. He has been in a medically induced coma since
last week.
His injuries range from severe head trauma, broken eye socket and a bruised
lung and broken clavicle.
Pete has been with AzTech for 5 years. In all my years I have never met a
more kind, honest, gentle and modest person. He arrived in the US from
Australia in 2000 and shortly thereafter married Melanie. His AzTech family
misses him terribly and is very concerned about his condition.
Since his promotion to Production Manager earlier this
year he has brought stability, respect and organization to the shop. He is
appreciated and respected by co-workers, vendors and clients for his
artistic talents, integrity as well as easy going personality. It is hard to
describe Pete in words here, but the feeling one gets when around him, you
realize he is someone very special. His work ethic and commitment to his
craft are obvious in his work. Whether at work creating signs or engaged in
his hobby of pin striping, his talents are obvious.
What lies ahead for Pete and Melanie is uncertain at this time. His recovery
and rehabilitation is sure to be long, difficult and expensive. For those of
you
who know Pete and would like to help, contributions are being taken through
Pay Pal and directly to Melanie, you can see his artwork and get donation
information at www.volksrods.com For those of you who wish to donate
directly
to Pete and Melanie contributions can be sent to:
Melanie Green PO Box 6437 Portland OR 97228
For those of you who don't know Peter, please keep him in you thoughts and
prayers
Please send him your good karma, positive mojo or whatever works for you.
And please keep him in your prayers. We know that prayers work and God
listens.

Anyone who's met him already knows that Pete is an AMAZING dude. Super talented in his work and has always been there to offer help and encouragement to those he's inspired enough to pick up a brush. One of the most unselfish people I have ever met, he has been huge part of all of our lives over there. The news of his accident hit everyone incredibly hard.
On the other side, never have I ever seen such widespread support in a community. His story has spread worldwide and the outpour of support has been unbelievable! I just wanted to say thank you for your article and effort - this has been a crazy time but the fact that he is up and moving around is truly a testament that his time here is not up.
Still a long road ahead but the guy is a fighter -- must be that vegemite they feed them down under.
here's a picture of his car to put it in perspective
