Wax On. Wax Off. (Hair gone)
by northwest nola
Full disclosure: I am hairy. Like, Chewbacca hairy. Okay. That's an exaggeration, but you get the idea. Everywhere that a lady is not supposed to grow hair, I grow it. Since the seventh grade, i have been bleaching, plucking, tweezing, pulling and waxing pretty much any part of my body that I could reach.
Naturally, panic set in when I moved to Portland three years ago and left my beloved and trusted waxer back in the midwest. Who would I be able to trust not to make my pores bleed? Who would make my upper lip turn the least red after viciously pulling off the hot wax that I had become so accustomed to smelling? Who?
I tried a few different people out and I had some decent waxes, but it wasn't until karma came my way last spring that I found the Queen of All Waxers -- Ginny Toussaint, at Blooming Moon Spa. Ginny full-on admits that she obsesses over hair removal, carefully examining each and every follicle to make sure each and every hair is gone... and gone for good. Well, at least until it grows back next week, in my case.
She even inadvertently sloganized herself last time I went in. While delicately ripping wax off of my bikini line, she noticed a stray strip of light blonde hair about half way down my thigh -- before I could even ask her to take care of it, she had it covered in wax, and was gritting her teeth while saying, "No hair escapes me." And she's right. It doesn't.
Point being? Ginny is my new favorite person on earth because she's good at keeping me hairless and smooth and she does it all with a tender smile.
Ginny's wellness spa, Blooming Moon, also offers facials, massage and more.
Feeling furry? Call Ginny. You'll be snake-skin smooth in no time at all.
