Event Location: Square Deal Wine Co, 2321 NW Thurman Street
Our basic wine and cheese classes are intimate, about 14 people, and we spend our time talking with you about why we love this business. We'll give you some insight into how and why we source, import, sell, and talk about our wines the way we do. We'll pair the wines with 4-5 cheeses from Steve's and wax poetic. The cost is a mere $20 per person which is fully waived if you buy any full or mixed case that evening. We'll greet you with a glass of bubbly and it only gets better from there. We'll taste 6-8 wines and you'll leave knowing something more than you did when you arrived. Reservations are necessary so please call (503) 226-9463 to sign up.

On Wednesday, November 26, 2008, city staff will be going to Council with the final proposed amendments regarding the manner in which wireless companies may place antennae on utility poles, and replace utility poles with taller ones for wireless purposes. The proposed amendments are designed to balance the need to retain neighborhood character and livability with the expanding need to provide wireless services in neighborhoods. They were developed over the course of two years. Staff conducted three public forums in March, 2008, followed by an online survey in April-May, 2008 (that was responded to by over 900 people, and over 350 individual comments were also received), followed by a citywide public meeting in October, 2008. In short, staff is proposing to allow antennae on utility poles in residential areas on residential streets only as a last resort - when no other site or combination of sites for antennae is feasible. Event Location: Willamette and Columbia Rivers
2008 marks the 54rd year for the Christmas Ship Parade on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers in Portland, Oregon. Please click on the Willamette or the Columbia Schedule links for complete schedules with route details including viewing locations and times for restaurants, hotels and outdoor viewing. The Christmas Ship Fleet averages about 55 to 60 boats between the two Columbia and Willamette River fleets. Both fleets will be out every night for two weeks beginning December 10, 2008 and running through December 21, 2008. The fleet will do a special performance in Camas, WA on Dec. 6th. As we are an all volunteer organization, not all the boats make it out every night. Without the donations from the restaurants and the hotels along the waterfront, this parade would not be possible. Please book your Christmas parties at our sponsoring restaurants and hotels. They are listed by viewing dates on the fleet schedule links with phone numbers and links to their websites. Thei
