November Fun with Isobel’s Clubhouse
by nancyMany thanks to all our talented and generous neighborhood volunteers who have organized so many fun events for central Portland families in November.
Our children have already had great interactions with arts and music. The Museum of Contemporary Craft Family Tour led by Sassafras Art Tours was a huge success. Families experienced the Manufractured exhibit in a whole new way, and had a lot of fun learning. And 23 elementary-school-aged performers from My Smilin Violin wowed a First Thursday audience last night with Suzuki compositions and ear-to-ear smiles.
There must be a baking theme in the air… Tonight a parent is teaching kids how to make koulourakia, a traditional Greek cookie. Nuvrei will teach families how to make traditional marzipan confections on November 18th, and Cupcake Jones will teach kids how to frost and decorate cupcakes on November 19th.
We’re also focused on civic engagement and community building. Our Second Annual Family Conversations will be held the morning of November 13th and the evening of November 17th. We believe that central Portland is good for kids, and kids are good for central Portland. Join us for a conversation about how to make it even better.
And, as all families of school aged children know, November is a month full of school closures. On November 11th you can find us at Indoor Active Play at 10:00. For those of you have who school closures on the 14th and 21st, we’ll be at the Clubhouse from 9:30 – 11:30. Isobel's Clubhouse will be closed on Thanksgiving, as will Thursday Indoor Active Play, but open for regular hours the rest of the week.
More ideas and events are constantly popping up, so keep reading Neighborhood Notes or email us to subscribe to our weekly email of fun family events in central Portland.
