A decade after opening the doors to Hosford-Abernethy’s very laid-back Night Light Lounge, Christopher Gutierrez and Hope Beraka have opened a sister spot across town. However, Gutierrez explains, their new spot has a different focus: Unlike the casual fare offered at Night Light, the 60-plus-seat North Light features classic and inventive dinner dishes as well as craft cocktails. Expect New York strips, braised pork shanks, seared steelhead, and plenty of starters, including hominy-stuffed calamari braised in salsa roja and sprinkled with cotija cheese. To man the kitchen, Gutierrez and Beraka have brought in Night Light’s Lyle Jost (Mint/820, Masu and Fiddleheads) and cocktail crafter Chris Bollenbacher (formerly of Cathedral Park Kitchen), who has created signature drinks like the Stallion (mezcal, fino sherry, Fernet-Vallet and walnut liqueur).
