In the business world, November may best best known for the busiest shopping day of the year, but it’s also National Entrepreneurship Month.
The entrepreneurial spirit extends internationally with a Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), from Nov. 12-18 this year, and President Obama declared Nov. 16, 2012, National Entrepreneurs' Day in the U.S., saying, “let us renew the spirit of innovation that has fueled more than two centuries of American progress and promises to drive us in the years to come.”
And while Kansas City is technically the official capital of Global Entrepreneurship Week USA, there’s still plenty happening in the Rose City. Besides, Portlanders are already reasonably familiar with a year-round, growing, innovative component to our own entrepreneurial scene: business incubators.
As GEW looks to celebrate “the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare,” Portland has its own bevy of collaborative incubators that are currently exploring new ways of solving social problems while advancing business, taking culinary ideas from the kitchen to commerce, and making your art and design your business.
Find out why Portland is a great place to launch a business and how our business incubators play a new, pivotal role in bringing ideas to market in Neighborhood Notes’ three-part series on business incubators:
