Believe In Movement, formerly known as Believe Movement Studio, is kicking off 2012—its third year in business—with a new partner, a new look, a wider variety of exciting movement classes, and a goal to become a gathering space for the community.

In light of difficult economic times Believe In Movement has proven it has staying power, attracting a committed group of students from the Woodlawn neighborhood and adjacent communities. But partners Laura Demeri and Rae Minten would like to see more Woodlawn neighbors make the studio a destination for exploring new types of fitness and community so they have expanded the types of classes offered as well as a wide range of weekend workshops.

“We know the courage it takes to walk in our door. Our focus is to create an atmosphere where our clients know they are cared for and their needs are being met,” says Laura, founder of Believe In Movement. Laura has a Master Degree in Exercise Science and Nutrition. She completed the Chef training from the Natural Gourmet Institute and is certified by Power Pilates and the American College of Sports Medicine. She also teaches health and wellness classes at Clark College. In 2011, she received the Exceptional Faculty Award, the college’s highest faculty honor.

“In addition to providing movement classes and workshops, we’d like this to be a place where neighbors gather together for the purpose of wellness,” says Rae. She has been teaching at the studio since it opened in October of 2009 and joined Laura as a partner in late 2011. Rae is a registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance, a certified Pilates Mat instructor with the Pilates Method Alliance, and a certified Relax and Renew® Trainer.

The new line up of classes at Believe In Movement includes Yang style Tai Chi, Spine Health, Core Strength with Props, Yoga and Sound, as well as a number of unique yoga and Pilates classes.

Believe in Movement also provides space for independent movement specialists and their businesses.
