In Other Words Feminist Community Center Looking for Board Members!

The In Other Words Board of Directors is a group of dedicated volunteers who oversee the vision and mission of In Other Words Feminist Community Center, which is a project of the Women’s Community Education Project. Each member brings a different set of skills and experiences to the table.

The Board is currently looking for new board members to fill positions on the Fundraising Events, Grant, Donor Development and Personnel Committees. We are currently accepting applications from people who have experience in at least one of the following areas: financial policies and procedures, donor cultivation, grant writing, coordinating fundraising and community-building events, and implementing board and staff policies and procedures. Though it is not required, experience in non-profit organizations, grassroots fundraising, non-profit law and board or committee work is a plus. As a Board member, feminism is a must. Mission

In Other Words is a feminist community center run by volunteers and supported by donors. Our mission is to support, enrich, and empower the feminist community through literature, art, and educational and cultural events.

Our Feminism is for everybody! We believe in gender equality and a diversity of feminist perspective, which takes into account multiple issues, such as economic justice, racial justice, queer issues, trans issues, and not just the traditional “women’s” issues.

The Board of Directors meets monthly on a weekday evening, for 2-3 hours. Board members commit to 10-15 hours per month toward Board work. We strongly value the participation of people with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, genders, sexualities, abilities and feminist perspectives.
