The Music Studio on Harrison Hill Teaching Collective Hosts First Spring Recital

Teaching collective celebrates its first season with a wide range of musical performance

Spend an afternoon listening to a variety of music at St. David of Wales Episcopal Church, proud to host the first spring student recital for the Music Studio on Harrison Hill, Sunday, May 23 at 2:00 pm. Reception with refreshments to follow. This event is free.

The Music Studio on Harrison Hill offers private and group lessons in virtually every discipline: flute, mandolin, music theory, percussion, piano, violin, and voice. These teaching artists-in-residence bring a refined musical gift to the Music Studio and the desire to share it with the greater community of Harrison Hill. Working in a cooperative format allows teachers to share space, resources, and art together in a cost effective and collaborative way.

The teaching artists-in-residence and students frequently perform at St. David of Wales Church, community functions, with other arts organizations, and in this their first ever recital on Harrison Hill.

St David’s Music Director and Music Studio Coordinator Daniel Fitzmaurice is particularly excited about Sunday’s recital:

“Sharing music is a huge part of our mission in this neighborhood,” Fitmaurice says. “That's why we have monthly 'Ceilidh!' community music nights, student recitals, and soon more public events as the studio grows.”

Those interested in taking up a new musical discipline will have the opportunity to meet the students and teachers who make up this community collective. All are welcome.
