Golden West Hotel Exhibit Honors Portland's African American History

Central City Concern has installed a permanent outdoor exhibit along the exterior of the Golden West Hotel (at Broadway and NW Everett), a hub of African American businesses in the early 1900s.

Six historic panels detail Portland’s African American vibrant history and contributions to the City during the early 1900s. It includes historic photos and audio narration. The display is also available on a rotating basis during the month of February at the Portland Building, 1120 SW 5th and online at http://centralcityconcern.org/golden-west-intro.html. Exhibit funding came from City of Portland Vision into Action and the Oregon Humanities.
