Zimmerman Community Center’s 2010 Community Survey has been up for a month, and you’ve given us great feedback on the adult groups, activities and topics that interest you. Thank you for telling us what you wish you could find in the neighborhood. We’re evaluating survey responses against our mission and community resources, and hosting Community Conversations to learn more.

At the conversations, we’ll discuss the survey results in greater detail to make sure we really understand what you want. We’ll figure out the ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘when’, ‘where’ and ‘how’ to make things happen. And we’ll recruit volunteers to help turn the survey results into real results.

Here are highlights of the information you’ve shared so far.
The most popular groups are a Book Group, Business Discussion Group, Foreign Language Group and Walking Group. Spanish and Chinese are the languages that you’re most interested in speaking with each other.
The most popular activities are Book Swaps, Clothing Swaps, Game Nights, Recipe Swaps and Wine Tastings.
The speakers series topics we suggested were all interesting to you, and Local History edged out the others by a few votes.

About Zimmerman Community Center
Zimmerman Community Center is working to create a community gathering place for our neighbors in the River District and Central Portland. We are negotiating a lease in an apartment building being built at NW 13th and Raleigh. But we’re not resting while our proposed new home is under construction. We’re also building our calendar of community events and activities for people of all ages.
