2,140 pounds of food. That's a lot. Almost 900 cans of tuna. About 2,000 jars of peanut butter. And, you guessed it, 2,140 one pound bags of pasta. More than a ton.
That's how many pounds of food were donated to Sunshine Division during Isobel's 2nd annual food drive. Nineteen condominiums and apartments had bins in their lobbies, and the Henry donated the most, at 305 pounds of food. Wow! CMI had a bin in their office lobby, and generously helped coordinate with properties that they manage. And Little Green Grocer also participated, creating a super-easy donating opportunity. Thank you to everyone who helped and who donated.
Without Teri's leadership, passion and organizing talent, this drive would not have happened. She led the 2008 drive as well, and this year doubled the number of participating buildings as well as the pounds of food donated. Thank you Teri.
Teri is part of the Isobel's Clubhouse Good Works Committee. This committee meets early in the year and plans ways to engage children in making our world a better place. In 2009 their efforts included a food drive for Food for Kids Backpack Program, the Sunshine Division food drive, and donating produce from our garden to Urban Gleaners and Blanchet House.
If you'd like to participate in the Good Works Committee, please email us at nancy@zcommunitycenter.org. The committee will meet in early January and we'd love to have you participate.
