Portland Community Gardens Winter 2010 Classes and Work Parties

Portland Parks and Recreation just released its Winter 2010 schedule of free classes and work parties for Portland community gardeners. Dig in...

Gardening may be on hold this time of year, but Portland Parks & Recreation's Community Gardens has announced its schedule of Winter 2010 classes and work parties. The schedule includes beginning gardening classes, as well as work parties for garden clean-ups and fruit tree pruning.

A construction work party will be held January 23 for volunteers who want to help build the newest community garden at Madison High School.

The Community Garden program has provided gardening opportunities for the physical and social benefit of the people and neighborhoods of Portland since 1975. There are currently 32 community gardens located throughout the city, developed and operated by volunteers and Portland Parks & Recreation staff, offering a variety of activities.
