Neighborhood Tree Stewards Needed

Another great way to improve your neighborhood! Here's more from Portland Parks & Rec:

Volunteers are needed to take the lead in protecting and maintaining Portland's Urban Forest.

Join a group of committed volunteers for 5 classes to become a Neighborhood Tree Steward. Classes will be taught by a variety of tree experts and will utilize a hands-on and active-learning format to teach participants about tree biology, pruning, planting, care, regulations, and tricks of the trade to organize community involvement. The course will assist you in planning events in your neighborhood to improve your community's urban forest.

The five classes will be held over three weeks:
Tuesday, September 29th 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 3rd 8:30-2:00 p.m.
Tuesday, October 6th 6:30-9:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 10th 8:30-2:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 17th 8:30-2:00 p.m.

A graduation Ceremony will be held at Dig-It, an event to kick off the planting season, on October 24th!

There is limited room, so sign up to become a Neighborhood Tree Steward today! The cost is $25.00 and includes a binder of reading material and T-shirt.
