First Annual Panoramic Pinot Celebration

Sipping a delicious glass of red wine after work is one of life's simple pleasures. And it'll get even more enjoyable this Thursday when Salty's hosts their First Annual Panoramic Pinot Celebration, complete with pours from 15 leading Oregon Pinot producers, gourmet bites, and of course, that stunning view of the Columbia as the sun sets.

It'll be a great night for aficionados and newbies alike; Sommelier Matthew Carter loves educating guests about wine, but wanted to make it affordable and supportive of the local economy at the same time. So for a mere $29, you'll get hors d'oeuvres like duck roulade with pancetta relish and black mission figs with Humboldt Fog chevre, and Pinots from some of the oldest and most interesting vineyards in the area—plus, the opportunity to learn from experts, purchase exclusive and discounted bottles, and win gift cards and other door prizes.

Since 1965, Oregon has become a leading producer of the notoriously delicate Pinot varietal, formerly only cultivated in Burgundy, France. Turns out the Willamette Valley sits on the same latitudinal line as that region, and our wines are now world-renowned—and you can indulge right in your own backyard!

Perhaps you'll start with the pioneers—Eyrie, Sokol Blosser, and Adelsheim Vineyards—or find out how a biodynamic version is made at Cooper Mountain. Maybe you'll fall for the bold flavors of the Archery Summit Pinot, or maybe you'll love the light and fruity Willamette Valley Vineyards version. Indeed, Carter says to expect a lot of variety: "The grape itself is so difficult to cultivate that there is a unique style and flavor in every different winemaker's wine, which always makes drinking Pinot Noir exciting."

Sounds like Friday may come early this week!
