There has been a flurry of activity in the retailscape of NW 23rd Avenue. New businesses have been peppered along the avenue and are adding new flavor—in some cases, flavors—to one of Portland's favorite shopping destinations.
Last week, Clogs-N-More, a "European comfort shoe" boutique, opened in the former Wham! location at 617 NW 23rd Avenue. Clogs-N-More will fill the shoes of longtime comfort source Nob Hill Shoe Company, which closed in March. In addition to clogs galore—also known as N-More—the shop will carry socks and handbags.
Right next door at 615 NW 23rd Avenue, a team of glamazons has transformed the space formerly occupied by Compleat Bed & Breakfast into a MAC Cosmetics boutique. Pick up your favorite MAC product or try out a new look—just don't ask for their store hours. We did, and they refused to tell us. We were instructed to call the corporate office in New York for the hours of the Portland location. To save you a dime, we've included the hours at the bottom of this post.
Moving along... Jane Currin Designs has opened in the former Dana Lynn space at 828 NW 23rd Avenue. Owner and designer Jane Walvoord crafts jewelry from natural materials, precious metals and crystals. The shop features her designs, but also showcases the talent of other Oregon and California artists.
Fashion Stalwart IDOM has settled into its digs at 827 NW 23rd Avenue. Owner Modi Soondarotok recently pulled up stakes on Northeast Alberta and moved her unique collection of clothing, handbags and personal accessories to the space formerly occupied by Seaplane.
Hungry? You've got new options. Red Onion Thai is serving up authentic Thai cuisine at 1123 NW 23rd. Word on the street is that Red Onion is really good. Mouth-watering details at PDX Plate. Stone Pie Joe's offers sweet and savory pies ($3.25 each) for breakfast, lunch and dinner at 1015 NW 23rd.
