Lickety Split Food Cart in the Pearl

In many countries, ladybugs are considered to be good luck.

In the Pearl District, the ladybug umbrella sheltering the Lickety Split food cart at the corner of Northwest 10th and Northwest Hoyt is a sign of good eats. Owners Shelly O'Grady and Daniel Drumwright recently rolled into the neighborhood with a simple, but delicious and affordable menu of meatball goodness. Yes, meatballs! Vegan or pork, served over polenta or in a panini with your choice of marina or fire-roasted green chili sauce.

If you're salivating, I totally understand. But, I must tell you that it tastes every bit as good as it sounds. We've visited Lickety Split on several occasions and it has been consistently delicious. To add a little awesome sauce, meatball meals clock in at just $4.50 each.

Lickety Split is a profitless company. After covering expenses and their own compensation, O'Grady and Drumwright plan to use their profits to help spread the word about the benefits of locally produced food. They believe that in the next 10 years, our food system will be seriously impacted due to the economy, oil cost and consumption, and biofuels taking farmland out of food production. At this point, how they'll use the money is still under discussion. Stay tuned for details.

Look familiar? Shelly O'Grady worked at the Whole Bowl on Glisan for several years.

We're pretty lucky that this ladybug has landed in our neighborhood. Stop by and give Lickety Split a try!
