Portland Parks & Recreation has announced the movie titles and neighborhood park locations for its popular [and FREE!] Movies in the Park series. Last year, the event was called Big Screen on the Green, but PP&R has changed the name, because neighbors have always referred to the series as Movies in the Park.
As a reminder, we'll list these movies by neighborhood in our events section. And, in the spirit of family fun, we're also going to provide some great picnic-friendly recipes and places with picnic-ready supplies throughout the summer, so check back! If you'd like to share recipes or tips on where to purchase readymade picnic eats and supplies, send your suggestion to talk@neighborhoodnotes.com.

Helpful Information for Movies in the Park
What should I bring?
Blanket to lay on or chairs to sit in. A blanket to wrap up in the case it gets a little cool.
Your dog is welcome - but it's your responsibility to keep them on leash and cleaned up after!
An appetite for popcorn - it's free!
Food - pack a picnic!
Drinks, but no alcohol. Shaved Ice, Jamba Juice and hotdog/pizza concessions will be available at most movies.
Items to pass the time: ball/frisbee to throw with the kids, etc.
When should I arrive?
Early to get the best spot. Movies draw 500 to 5,000 people, depending on the park.
Live entertainment begins at 6 p.m.
Movies begin at dark (Usually between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.)
Where should I sit:
Just like a traditional theatre, don't sit too close to the front. Try for center.
If you bring chairs with you, try not to sit in front of people on blankets. It's just common courtesy.
Any rules?
Cell phones must be silenced and all movies are no smoking venues.
Fun is a requirement!
