We're sad to report the closing of two local businesses: Leonardo's on Lovejoy (@10th and Lovejoy) and District (@232 NW 12th Avenue). Both closures had a little foreshadowing: Last week, Stockboy found a Craigslist listing for Leonardo's and District was recently closed for a month due to an OLCC violation. Obviously, neither were signs of good things to come.
We wish the owners and employees the best on future endeavors.

Great space, but the 10th and Lovejoy location has yet to find a tenant that has a welcoming, vital presence. I'd love to see a Fuller's style EARLY breakfast place, or a moderately priced Indian joint. Whatever form it takes, I hope the next incarnation has a real inside-out, step-up-and-join-the-party vibe (landlord willing). Kenny and Zukes, are you listening?
A diner or cafe would be a great idea!!!

I agree with businessgypsy! Something besides a dull, cold, expensive winebar or the like, please!! Breakfasts and sandwiches, or Indian, or Mexican, and with inviting outdoor seating.
I agree that a Fuller's style breakfast counter, or maybe a mini New York style deli would work. So, is this the 3rd restaurant to lose that space since 2006?
I believe you are correct, it's been Nina's, Graze, and now Leonardo's. Nina's opened in January 2005, Graze opened in August 2006, and Leonardo's opened in May 2007. Very unfortunate.
Elephants should open a Pearl location in that space, or perhaps an Indian restaurant + Indian market. Or maybe mini-Uwijamaya?
