So, when searching for a wedding photographer for our wedding last summer, my husband and I really had only two tiny little requirements:
1) Their photography had to be kick-ass
2) We had to love them.. the photographers
I know we all want #1 when searching for a wedding photographer, but why #2, you ask? Well, simply put, my family is complicated, and weddings are complicated and we needed people who could understand us, be patient with the "politics" and mostly, who we felt comfortable with. How can you throw out your wedding day best smile for some stiff standing in the corner? It just wouldn't happen for us!
We also wanted someone who was somewhat artsy and wouldn't force us to do traditional wedding shots, like his family in front of the church doors, my family in front of the cake, all the bridesmaids kissing the groom, etc. We just couldn't deal with those photographs being our only visual memories of our big day -- we wanted candid and creative.
So, we interviewed several local photographers; some were too expensive, some lacked in the personality department and some just didn't move us...until we stumbled on Emily and Steve Canfield of Fusion Photography. Emily and Steve are an photography studio adorable couple with three kids, who are really fun and who, as a team, happen to take those kick-ass pictures we wanted. We booked immediately. And why do I know these things about them? Because i heart them so much that we've stayed in contact months and months after our wedding.... because they're just that cool.
