The Citizen Noise Advisory Committee (CNAC) meets on March 12th, from 6-8 pm at 7000 NE Airport Way in the St. Helens conference room. (Parking is validated so bring your ticket). Jason Schwartz, Port of Portland Noise Program Manager, will give an update on the F-15 Continuous Descent Approach testing over Cully area. There will an opportunity for the public to ask questions and make comments.
Jason will provide information for both CNAC and members of the public who wish to know more about the CDA overhead test. The Port and CNAC feel that there has been a lot of miscommunication and misinformation in the community. They will also be discussing the potential for a north-turn pattern which will put aircraft over the Columbia River. Use of this procedure would likely be limited to times when one of the parallel runways are closed during the North Runway Extension and South Runway Rehabilitation Project.
Testing of the CDA Overhead (using the south-turn) will conclude at the end of March, so you should continue to call in to report CDA complaints. The Port will have another update at the April 9th CNAC meeting, then at the May 14th they will provide a summary briefing and CNAC will make their recommendation regarding what to do moving forward.
More information and directions to the CNAC meeting can be found in the Cully Association of Neighbors Spring newsletter that was recently mailed to Cully residents and at the CAN website www.cullyneighbors.org
Our thanks to the Cully Association of Neighbors for this information.
