Portland's Bureau of Planning and Sustainability is looking at ways to improve livability around six Eastside MAX stations. The purpose of the project is to create active station communities where a wide range of housing, retail, services and job opportunities are immediately available within a pedestrian-friendly, 20-minute walk of MAX light rail stations. Community input over the past year has resulted in a set of proposed long-range planning actions (land use, urban form/building design, and transportation) for each of the station communities being studied in the project - NE 60th, NE 82nd, Parkrose/Sumner, 122nd, 148th and 162nd MAX stations.
The City of Portland is holding two sets of community meetings to present and discuss the proposed zoning changes, pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects, and other actions that can help shape development around each of these MAX stations. Each community meeting will have a specific time for a specific station community. The public comments from these meetings will help to refine the proposed actions and determine priorities for the implementation strategy.
Each session will start with a project update, followed by a question and answer period, and finally small group discussions of the proposals. Note the different locations and times for each station area.
In addition to the community meetings, there are several other ways for the public to share their comments, including completing an online survey. You can also contact by phone or email:
