Rally for Schools: Field Trip to Salem!

Hearing about more public school cuts makes my blood boil. To take from children is to me the most cruel step the government can make, not to mention stupid, for as we all know: education is the soil that society grows out of. When I heard about Stand for Children, a non-profit childrens' advocacy group, that works to improve public education and fight against public school cuts, I got on board. Right now legislators are in session deciding how many millions of dollars they should cut from public schools this coming year; More than 22 million dollars are at stake in Portland alone and we MUST put a stop to this.

To Protect the Kids and Schools, Stand has organized a RALLY while legislators are in session in Salem. The RALLY is on President's Day (school holiday) February 16th, at noon on the capitol steps. Buses will leave from all over Portland to take families and friends to Salem to march and speak and make the kids' voices as loud as they can be. They can't do this alone and need everyone's support. Whether you have children or not, this is your issue too.

Reserve a seat on the bus by emailing me at TeriSalemRally@gmail.com or by registering online at www.stand.org/or/rally

This is something we all need to fight for, no matter what. A well funded public education system benefits everyone and all families should have access to quality schools. We are all connected and share the same future in Portland together. Please join us and help the children who can't fight this battle alone. Take a few hours from your busy life and pack a sack lunch! Bring your kids, grandparents, aunts and uncles on this exciting bus ride down to Salem to rally on the capitol steps. It will be a memorable and worthy cause, I promise. If the people can't make a difference, then who can?
