On the East Side of town there is absolutely no shortage of options for Thai Food. When we first moved here we joked that we could eat at a new thai restaurant every day for a week and still not make a dent in hitting all of them.
Over the past few months of living on the East Side we've developed our favorites. You'll often find me at Pad Thai Kitchen for lunch, because I can't find a friendlier more satisfying Thia Lunch in town. If I'm in the mood for spicy, there's no doubt I'll head down to Sweet Basil on NE Broadway.
Recently I've added to that 'must' list for my thai food cravings. Mai Thai Restaurant on SE Belmont is by far the best place for Mussamun Curry in Portland. Most Massamun's in town lean a little more towards the runny side, not Mai Thai's. Thier Massamun is a thick creamy perfection, seasoned with cardamon seeds it has a flavorful but not too spicy taste. I've now had the dish both at lunch and dinner and both times I've almost licked the plate clean - it's that good.
So if Massamun Curry is your thing, Mai Thai Restaurant should be in your near future.

must. go. to. spinning... but, now I really want to eat Thai food instead. Damn you, Geoff!!! We were just at Mai Thai last weekdidn't have the mussamun curry, but there's always next time. Thanks for the tip!
