Historical Restoration Requires Architectural CSI

Have you ever wondered how architects restore historical buildings, keeping them historically accurate? This story from the Daily Journal of Commerce gives some insight into the investigative process to accurately restore a historical building. The story's focus is on the investigative work being conducted for the restoration of the Ladd Carriage House.

An interesting element is that the building lost its protected historical status, because it was temporarily moved to allow for the construction of the Ladd Tower. Even though it will be returned to the site, it will not be placed in its original location, making it uncertain if it can regain its historical status.
