Pearl Animal Hospital to Open

by pdxdog
greenland-dog-pups-greenland-987645-mn We are so excited to learn that Pearl Animal Hospital is opening (hopefully) in September in the Pearl District. The practice will be located in the Pinnacle Building , right near the Fields —how perfect is that location! Dr. Courtney Anders is the vet opening the new practice, and it so happens, she is Ellie's vet (my dog) and comes to the Pearl from Raleigh Hills Vet. She wants to listen to community needs, play a role in the community and offer the best dog medicine around. She loves animal denistry. pdxdog.com is very excited about this news. Stay tuned for more information!

TN-445608_GeneralAutomotiverending HomeStreet Capital, one of the Northwest's oldest commercial real estate lenders, has provided $10.2 million in construction financing for conversion of the General Automotive Building in Portland, Ore., from a vacant warehouse to office and retail space. The project will utilize historic tax credits. The General Automotive Building is located on the Park blocks at the intersection of NW Park and NW Flanders. Update on Multnomah's efforts for emergency response center

by shooter
This story from the Portland Tribune is a quick update on residents' efforts to have the Sears Army Center used as an emergency response center. Some residents are working to identify alternative locations for the proposed low-income housing, while others are preparing to circulate a petition to present to the city council.

As a Westside resident, I'm in favor of the emergency response center. It's a much needed service and it appears that the site could be prepared with modest modification.

Make sure to let the city council know what you think, you can write, email or call city council members. In the ranking system of contact, phone calls count the most.

Headline of the Day: Builder of Planned Parenthood project in Portland pulls out

by pearlgirl
Did you read the headline—I mean, really —did Walsh Construction employ the rhythm method of decision making???? Hi-larious . What's not-so-funny are the views expressed by one of the protesters: the teachings of Planned Parenthood (which he chalks up to sex and masturbation) are "the gateway drug to lust." Silly me, I thought that dancing was the gateway drug to lust. No wonder Walsh didn't want to touch this project with a 10-foot pole. Read the story at the Oregonian

Internationally Known Plastic Surgeon Joins the Pearl Women's Center

by pearlgirl
For over 20 years, Dr. Richard Bensimon has been one of the most sought after board certified, plastic and reconstructive surgeons on the East coast, but beginning this July he's trading it all in for our Northwest lifestyle and a new home at Pearl Women's Center. "This is very exciting news for the center," explains Medical Director, Dr. Richard Rosenfield. "Our patients have been asking about bringing plastic surgery to the center for some time, and attracting a surgeon of Dr. Bensimon's caliber is a real testament to our community." Dr. Bensimon attended medical school at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. After graduating with honors, he completed his surgical residency at the prestigious Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. He placed his private practice on hold for a year to serve as the surgical director of a refugee camp hospital on the Thailand-Cambodian border. Upon his return to New York, he completed an in-depth plastic surgery fellowsh
