PDC's Post Office estimate on target

The Portland Development Commission paid for an appraisal of the U.S. Postal Service's Pearl District office in 2007 with hopes of buying the prime 13-acre property.

The review by Integra Realty Resources put the value at $45.5 million.

So why then does the county assessor's figures on www.portlandmaps.com put the same property's market value at $128 million?

Good question, says Randy Walruff, the county's director of assessment and taxation.
