We had a great time this Sunday at the Museum of Contemporary Craft's Family Discovery Sunday. Kurt Weiser's ceramic art is fantastical and inspiring; lots for a young brain to enjoy and absorb. And it's humbling to try your hand at painting pottery after exploring the exhibit. The Ready Paint Fire staff were prepared, however, with support and words of encouragement as well as materials to create a keepsake ornament. We produced some fine work along with dozens of other kids and a few River District Families.
When we pick up our fired keepsake ornament on Thursday, I'll be eyeing the ready-to-paint stock for gift ideas. My son is excited to paint plates and mugs, to be enjoyed by grandparents. The last plate he painted, he liked so much he kept it for himself. How could he not, since it sported stencils, free hand painting and a caterpillar shape that the staff attached to the plate for him.
