Introducing Ecru Modern Stationer

by pearlgirl

Visit Ecru Modern Stationer at 1215 NW 11th Avenue (in The Sitka) for greeting cards, invitations, stationery and gifts. The owner, LeAnn Dolan is a doll! The store is bright and cheery and LeAnn is a breath of fresh air. She loves paper goods and supports local manufacturers such as Blinth and Coco Pink.

LeAnn has lots of good things in store for Pearl residents...

Stay tuned!

She's Baaaaaack!

by pearlgirl
Hi neighbors,

Sorry for the extended break in Pearl news, but sometimes a girl needs a little time to (and for) herself. :-) There has been a lot going on in the neighborhood over the past month and I will begin posting regularly again to get you up to speed.

Thanks,
Pearlgirl

Why We Live Here

by shooter
A friend recently shared a story with me of how someone she knows told her about a serious illness they had. My friend happened to know of several of this person’s neighbors who had a similar illness and suggested this person get in touch with them. The result was a lunch that offered love and support for this person.

Because someone made the effort someone else received some much needed support. It’s these touches of humanity that make the Pearl a great place to live and remind us how lucky we are to have such caring people around us.

And, people actually took hormones thinking that this was good medicine and could prevent health problems ?

And then... and then... what happened ???

Such drama in healthcare-
Once upon a time a woman had a hot flash.
That's right, neighbors... someone had a hot flash, and then someone else discovered that the reason for this was because her ovaries stopped firing off eggs every month.
And, then, someone else named it menopause - and maybe it's a good thing that men will pause in the presence of men-o-pause, because for many women, the symptoms of this change of life quite frankly... suck.

But when did things get so damned complicated ?
I don't know- I went to medical school and residency and into practice thinking, "hey- if you'
