Help us Celebrate our 7th Anniversary on Wednesday, October 5th and Help Victims of Katrina
We have searched our recipe archives for a few favorite dishes from the past seven years. Come relive the past with dishes like Crespelle alla Genovese (Crepes with pesto and arugula) and Cinghiale in salmi con aceto balsamico (Braised wild boar slowly cooked with balsamic vinegar).
Our anniversary is also Dine for America night and we are pleased to donate a percentage of dinner sales to the Red Cross Disaster Fund for hurricane victims. Our bar opens at 4:30 and dinner at 5:00 p.m. Help us celebrate and give back to another community in need!
Ciao!

Area's look of success adds The North Face
by pearlgirl
The company, which opens an outlet today in the Brewery Blocks, joins other popular stores in the Portland retail hot spot

LAURA GUNDERSON
The Oregonian
The North Face Inc. likes to tempt outdoor enthusiasts with flashy stores in some of retail's hottest locales.
Michigan Avenue in Chicago. Broadway & 73rd in New York. Newbury Street in Boston.
And, as of today, Northwest Davis Street in Portland's Brewery Blocks.
The store, North Face's ninth, is one of the newest tenants in an increasingly popular shopping area in the southwest corner of the city's Pearl District. There, North Face is surrounded in a few-block radius not only by a handful of other sports-related retailers, such as Patagonia, Lucy and Recreational Equipment Inc., but also by several sought-after national stores setting up shop in Oregon for the first time.
"Portland was traditionally a third-tier market,"

The Casey
Introducing The Casey ! This new condo tower at the heart of the pearl (12th & Everett) will be one of the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly high rise projects in the United States. The Casey will have only five condos per floor and will have 56 units. It will be a 15-story building. The units will be a traditional style and will average 2000sq feet per unit.
The Crane Building
This warehouse at Northwest 14th Avenue and Northwest Irving Street will be one of the last tax abatement properties available in the Pearl. Condition for tax abatement requires that the 30 lofts be rented out as apartments until 2012. Since the two penthouses are new construction, they do not qualify for tax abatement.
The building will be converted into a mixed use with six floors total - three floors will be residential. The developer is GM Crane Development LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Guardian Management LLC.

Save the date!
by pearlgirl
Polish the Pearl has been scheduled on Saturday, October 15th at 9am. Details will be announced soon, so start organizing your volunteers now. The "Pride of the Pearl" awards were given to Bridgeport Condos and to CMI in the spring, but who knows who will win the coveted award for fall 2005. Could it be MSI or The Henry ...or some other dark horse?
Time will tell.
