Feeding Seniors in The Pearl

Do your grandparents live close? Are you too far away to help them the way you would like to?
There are seniors right in your neighborhood, perhaps just across the street that you can help.

Meals-on-Wheels delivers 200 meals every day to seniors living in the Pearl, Northwest, and downtown who are homebound and canÂ’t prepare their own meals. They also serve 150 meals every day to seniors who can get to the center at the YWCA right behind the Portland Art Museum.

The downtown Meals-on-Wheels Center is in the midst of planning an auction for April 6th to be held at the Center. We need donations to be auctioned, sponsors to support expenses we can not get for trade, and volunteers. The auction is not intended to be a lavish or flashy event, just people who care about getting nutritious meals to those who canÂ’t do it for themselves. If you can help in any way, please contact me at lorisilverman@comcast.net or Marjorie Halford, Center Manager at mhalford@lfcpdx.org

Help can be as big as a sponsorship or as little as a few hours time – all is appreciated!

If you know of someone interested in receiving meals, simply call (503)736-6325.
Meals on Wheels seeks to enrich the lives of seniors and assist them in maintaining independence by making nutritious food, social contacts and other resources easily available.

PS If you want the experience of a lifetime, volunteer to deliver meals just once – it is a wonderful feeling.

Thank you,
