Neighborhood Notes receives daily requests for free event listings from worthy organizations in Portland and beyond. Unfortunately, we must decline many meaningful appeals for the simple but important reason that our resources are limited.
TO QUALIFY FOR AN EVENT LISTING ON US
EVENTS MUST BE LOCAL AND AFFILIATED WITH A PORTLAND NONPROFIT.
We do not list events outside of Portland, and we can only offer free event listings to nonprofits located within our city limits.
EVENTS MUST BE FREE.
We understand that you have expenses to cover and sometimes that requires charging event attendees a fee or suggesting a donation amount. However, we hope you understand that Neighborhood Notes also has expenses to cover. When your event is free, we are happy to waive our listing fee, but when you recoup your expenses—it becomes necessary for us to recoup our expenses.
EVENTS CANNOT BE AFFILIATED WITH A BUSINESS.
Mutual support is a beautiful thing. We deeply appreciate that Portland businesses support local causes through donations of space, products, time and money. However, we also recognize that these event partnerships are strategic because they create good public relations, brand awareness and, consequently, more business for the sponsor. In an effort to be fair to everyone—ourselves included—we felt it necessary to draw a line between events hosted by nonprofits without any business sponsors, and those events hosted for them by business sponsors.
If your event meets these guidelines, send us an email with event details and we’ll send you a link (within 24 hours) to an online form where you can submit your event listing. Your listing will be advertised on our website and promoted on social media at no charge.
The Silver Lining: A 20% Discount
We love the whole idea of neighbors helping neighbors, and we're happy to extend a 20% discount to local businesses and nonprofits whose events support a great cause but don't qualify for a free listing.
