Save the date for SOLV’s Beach and Riverside Cleanup on September 17th! Thousands of volunteers will clean up trash and remove invasive plants from Oregon’s coastline and along rivers, creeks and lakes in Oregon and SW Washington. This work will improve the quality of water that we all drink, and use for recreation and agriculture.
Trash travels with the rain from inland roadways and riversides out to the sea. Once cigarette butts, bottles, bags or other plastics reach the ocean they break down into tiny pieces threatening marine wildlife. Volunteer for a litter cleanup or watershed restoration project near you and send the gifts of clean water, abundant wildlife, and healthy people downstream. Most projects run from 10 am to 1 pm. For more information and to register visit http://www.solv.org/programs/fall_beach_cleanup.asp or contact Brett Lyon, SOLV’s Outreach Coordinator at brett@solv.org or 503.844.9571 x 332.
