ill-starred is the latest creation by Portland dance/performance art company, Hot Little Hands. This new work explores loss, relationships, dreams, mourning and the reaction to and understanding of crisis. Collaborators Suniti Dernovsek and David Stein will further their investigation into the fusion of dance, painting, wearable art, installation and music to create a thought provoking experience. Choreographer/dancer Suniti Dernovsek will continue to build on her unique movement vocabulary that is marked by its intricate detail and expressive physicality. Through detailed installation work, visual artist David Stein transforms the stage and welcomes the audience to experience a new world. The dance is accompanied with minimal sound-tracking by musician, Ryan Bjorn Cross.
Hot Little Hands creates timeless and hauntingly pleasant work with surreal narratives. They have produced three evening length dance productions ‘Lawn of the Limp' 2008 ‘Avian Fable' 2007 and ‘Marionette' 2004. They have been presented by Conduit Dance, Ten Tiny Dances in TBA, Reed College, UW Milwaukee, Danspace in NYC, On the Boards in Seattle and they received a residence at Caldera Arts. ill-starred is funded in part by the regional arts and culture council.
