Growing Seeds for Your Garden and Community

Event date: October 3rd, 2009 1:00 PM

Event location: 4446 NE Going Street

Learn to grow and harvest your own vegetable seeds and plan your garden for seed growing.

Which vegetables are easiest to grow to seed? How can I know if my seed will breed true? How do I choose the best individual plants to save seed from? When do I harvest my seeds?

In the instructor's abundant organic garden, we will discuss both easy and advanced crops and associated gardening techniques. Participants will get hands-on experience at harvesting and processing homegrown seed, and learn to use the seed library and plan seed exchanges.

Feel free to bring seeds to share. Some homegrown seeds will be available to take home.

Sponsored by the Portland Seed Library (a small part of the Northeast Portland Tool Library.)
