Hidden behind the sound wall on the north side of Going Street, Pittman Addition HydroPark is Portland's newest neighborhood gathering place and community greenspace.
The Portland Water Bureau-owned property, which is connected to the nearby Denver Water Tank Facility, was rehabilitated and outfitted with picnic tables and benches made from recycled materials by local artists, after a collaborative design effort was undertaken between bureau staff, neighbors and other stakeholders. The site is also equipped with a new walking path.
In the long term, the community intends to use the site for temporary, rotating sculptures and art installments.
The Pittman Addition HydroPark Grand Opening Ceremony will include a speech from Commissioner Randy Leonard and words of thanks to everyone involved, plus:
- Community Potluck and BBQ
- Music by Electric Opera Company
- Kids' Activities

And when its over if you feel like a walk on the beach...just follow the Going Street sidewalk down the Swan Island, cross Going at Port Center Way with a signal, continue past McDonalds toward the Pump Station, then right along the new Trail Access and under the Big Pipe Portal to the Willamette Greenway Trail. The beach was just cleaned up this week by over 50 Daimler Trucks NA employees and is ready to enjoy.
