Free Summer Concerts at the Sellwood Riverfront Park When:   Mondays at 6:30pm Where: SE Spokane Street at the Willamette River July 6     Kevin Gordon (singer/songwriter blues) July 13   The Garcia Birthday Band (Classic Jam Band) July 20   Windermere CCRG/Moreland Branch presents Conjunto Alegre (Tropical Dance Party) July 27   Midnight Serenaders (Vintage Jazz Vocals) Hands-on art activities for children at 6pm Enjoy food and drink at the concerts from Dano's Dogs, Mountain Ice & Springwater Grill/Smoke There will be a secure bike corral at the park and overflow parking at the south end of the Oaks Park parking lot. 

Enjoy a warm summer night eating ice cream and mingling with SE Uplift staff, board members and neighbors from across SE Portland. This will be a great opportunity to build relationship across neighborhood lines! 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Please join us for   Spanish Play Group at  Isobel's Clubhouse . Adults who are conversational in Spanish are welcome to bring the children in their lives. Native speakers are especially welcome! What will we do?  We speak for the whole hour only in Spanish. We mostly just have open play but we are open to singing, reading, or playing games together in Spanish. Ven y juega con nosotros! If you have questions about this event, please email Kara , the volunteer parent who organizes Spanish Play Group. Join the delightful singer/songwriter and storyteller Courtney Campbell in creating and being characters in "Dinosaur in the Backyard," "The Dancing Princess" and other hilarious songs. Make up your own fun stories and songs to tell and sing with Courtney. All you have to bring is your imagination! Free tickets for seating will be available at the Children's Library desk 30 minutes prior to the program.

Ms. Marti is back with her popular  Make Your Own Magazine  class at  Isobel's Clubhouse , and we're excited to see what the kids produce this time. The younger ones will have fun with images, glue and collage. And the older ones can get a little coaching on advanced skills like formatting, layout, content and design. This is an RSVP event. How do we handle RSVP's? 1) we send out invitations, like this post, 2) you email us to let us know you're interested, and 3) we do a lottery to determine attendance. On Sunday July 5th we'll get back to everyone who responds. We're not perfect so if you don't hear from us on Sunday please email right away. What should I bring? Materials are provided and are parent volunteers have cut out many images including animals, sports, outdoors, food, fashion and faces. Please join us for   Lunch Time Knitting  at  Isobel's Clubhouse .  What will we do?  You can bring your own projects and knit with us. Or, you can have a free knitting lesson or coaching session. Our hosts are accomplished knitters who are willing to help a beginner get started. If you have children, they are welcome to join you and play in our kid area. What should I bring?   If you're a beginner, you're welcome to bring materials. If you don't have them, we have needles and yarn to loan you during the lesson. You're also welcome to bring a lunch. The time for the tour has been changed! 7/1/09 UPDATE: We just heard from Fire Station 6 that the tour on July 9th needs to be changed to 1:00.   One of our amazing volunteers has organized a field trip to Fire Station 6. We'll have a chance to see fire boats, tour the fire station and see big sprays of water. Sounds super fun and we hope you'll join us. This is an RSVP event.
