Damian Magista, the brains and brawn behind what may just be Portland's most hyperlocal business, has opened a local honey production facility and tasting room where visitors can sample from—and take home—jars of nature's natural sweetener. Featuring honey harvested from hives dotting many of the city's neighborhoods, Magista says that in addition to offering nearly a dozen small-batch honeys produced by bees working in "our own backyards" (Mt. Tabor, Brooklyn, Laurelhurst), honey enthusiasts can also sample from his library of international honeys imported from countries like Italy, Ukraine and Tasmania. He also says he plans to roll out monthly B-movie nights. Tasting room hours vary—Magista, after all, has to harvest that honey from his many remote hives. In other words, you're free to swing by but appointments are encouraged. Chad Walsh, 10/15/2013
