Alberta Rose Theatre
Portland OR 97211
Think about it—most of the destination strips in the city have a large music venue gracing their sidewalks. The Aladdin on Powell, Hawthorne Theater on Hawthorne, Mississippi Studios on Mississippi, Clinton St. Theater on Clinton, Doug Fir on Burnside (East) and Dante’s, Roseland, Crystal Ballroom on Burnside (West). But Alberta has been left out—until now. The Alberta Rose Theatre, which first opened as a movie house in 1927, reopened at June’s Last Thursday after over 30 years of being closed. The charming 280-seat space in Concordia now hosts live music every week, as well as occasional plays and films. They also serve beer, wine, champagne, sweets, and Pacific Pie Company’s pot pies.
