A small shop nestled just around the corner from PCC Cascade, Queen of Cups (QoC) is warm and welcoming. As soon as you enter you feel a sense of calm wash over you, like entering a good day spa. Chapel Hill Pub Holds Many Memories

When the freshly renovated McMenamins Chapel Pub, formerly the Little Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, held their Grand Opening in 2006 it was to a packed house. That may seem surprising for a week night (it was a Tuesday) opening but according to McMenamins Historian, Jim Hill, "Neighbors and community members had been dropping by, all during the renovation, to say hi and check it out." Hill admits the part of the more...

A Night in the Life of Tony Starlight's

Though the hey-day of the supper club has long since past, there are some that miss the relaxed refinement for which these places were known. Portland's own crooner/entertainer extraordinaire, Tony Starlight (aka Brett Kucera) is just such a person. Longing for a venue to perform in which people could sit and leisurely enjoy entertainment while dining, was what drove Kucera to open his alter-ego's eponymous supper club and more...

Waking up to snow in North Portland again (a little more than in other parts of the city- or so I've heard from friends in other quads.) On these cold wintry days my first thoughts go to making snow angels. The second thought- hot chocolate! And what goes better with a hot mug of sweet chocolaty goodness? Fresh baked scones, of course.I quickly got busy in the kitchen and wha-la:  fluffy cherry-vanilla scones and a mug of more...
