Why we exist

The right people, places and things can change Your world. And that’s why we believe in the power of connection.

We also believe that little things make a big difference, and that’s exactly what makes life in Portland so unique: discovering a local grocery store that spins vinyl while you shop, finding a spot where you can learn to roast your own coffee beans, watching adults hurtle down a hill in homemade race cars, or moving into a neighborhood that’s protected by a towering lumberjack.

It’s the local experience that distinguishes Portland from other cities—from the blossoming food and drink scene to locally made goods available at indie boutiques to art galleries, independent movie houses and live entertainment.

And that’s why we’re here: to connect our audience with the independent businesses that are the foundation of Portland's unique character—the people, places and things that sustain and make it the city we all love.

Are you ready to create your Portland experience?

How we do it

Think local first. Your most memorable Portland experiences are as unique and lovely as you are. And that’s why we exclusively promote the local, independently owned businesses that create and maintain Stumptown's quirky character. Because, without everyone’s support, Portland could look and feel like any other strip mall-ridden city in the country. And who wants that?

Explore with intention. Your Portland experience extends beyond the central city, and that’s why we’re all over the (Portland) map. Literally. We find local resources in the 95 neighborhoods and 40-plus business districts that make up  the city to help you connect with the people, places and things that will create your best PDX experience.

Build meaningful relationships. Your best experiences are built on good relationships, and that’s why face time and real conversations are such an important part of our process. We get our information from key sources on the ground in Portland neighborhoods and business districts, and that enables us to share an insider’s perspective with you.
