Children at the Center - City Club Dialogue
by nancy
This is a re-post, but as the spaces are going fast am reminding folks that these community dialogues start next Tuesday.
Join City Club’s series of six community dialogues to explore key questions in education and human development. The series is intended to generate fresh and imaginative thinking about educating and nurturing our youngest citizens — from birth through adolescence — in schools, families and communities.
Key questions guiding the discussions will include the following:
(1) What is the nature of the child and what do children need in order to
develop, learn and thrive?
(2) What is the function of the arts and creativity in human development
and learning?
(3) What are the connections between physical and social/cultural environments and learning?
Registered participants are asked to take part in all six sessions. Participants also will be asked to help shape a summary document with recommendations for those who design environments that foster children’s learning, play, imagination and relationships.
The series will be facilitated by Ba Luvmour, Co-Director, EnCompass Families and Kasi Allen Fuller, Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education, Lewis & Clark College and Researcher, Inverness Research Associates.
For questions about the series contact Tony Iaccarino at (503)228-7231x103. RSVP and payment to Kim Adams McCool at (503) 228-7231 x100 or email kim@pdxcityclub.org.
